Casa de Honey has been undergoing some serious renovations.
Sparky took the week off to get the big stuff done before my sister and her husband arrive in three weeks (hooray!). Big stuff meaning the outdoor toilet is now indoors (double hooray!), and the large laundry room and tiny kitchen have swapped roles.
There’s still so much to do, but Sparky’s been working hard every day. Except for when I spy him having a tea break* in our jungle of a backyard, taking it all in. All the indoor stuff has top priority, so the backyard is a little neglected. The flowers in the picture have grown wild. We don’t know where they came from.
I’ve been working on more crafty stuff, including a baby shower gift made from my favourite jumper [sweater], purchased at the Esprit outlet in San Francisco over 10 years ago. Oh how I loved that jumper. I’d had to make a few repairs over the years but when the moth holes became too many, I took a deep breath and shrunk it in a hot wash, three times.
What to do with incredibly soft, pale yellow felt? And leftover “beak” bits (aka toes from toe socks) from the Arturo project? Why, make a baby duck, of course:

I think he turned out pretty cute. Apologies for the photo quality, but I finished stuffing him right before I had to leave for the shower (naturally) and plopped him down on a nature strip near the venue when I realised I had no photographic evidence.
* Sparky’s preferred work cup is a keepcup I bought at the Design Made Trade fair a few weeks ago for $10. It’s amazing! I love mine because it’s cute, good for the environment and doesn’t leak, but he thinks it’s great because he can drop it from great heights (i.e. a ladder) and it won’t break. Highly recommended for takeaway coffee/tea addicts, but be prepared for plenty of “ooooh”s and questioning about where to buy one.
